Fulham to sign Hector from Chelsea

Fulham have announced they will sign Michael Hector from Chelsea in January for an undisclosed fee.

Defender Hector joined the Blues from Reading in 2015 but has never made a competitive appearance for the club.

He spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, playing in 37 Championship games for the Owls.

The Jamaica international has also had time on loan with Hull City and Eintracht Frankfurt but has committed his future to Fulham until 2022, with the club also holding the option to extend for a further 12 months.

It was an easy decision to make. My mum s from Fulham, so it’s nice to join a club that some of my family support, Hector told Fulham s official club website.

It s good to now be a part of the set-up here. Hopefully things can…

Atalanta 0 Inter 0: Nerazzurri´s top-four ambitions suffer a setback

Inter s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League suffered a blow after being held to a disappointing 0-0 draw by Atalanta.

With Lazio and Roma playing each other on Sunday, the game in Bergamo gave Luciano Spalletti s side the opportunity to leapfrog both of their rivals into third.

As it is a share of the spoils from Saturday s underwhelming clash moves them up to fourth, level on 60 points with the sides from the capital after a third Serie A game without a win.

It could have been a very different story had Ivan Perisic taken any one of the three clear-cut openings afforded to him, the Croatian showing an uncharacteristic lack of composure in front of goal.

Until that point Atalanta had dominated the game, with Musa Barrow causing trouble…

Dinamo Bucharest midfielder Ekeng dies aged 26

Dinamo Bucharest midfielder Patrick Ekeng has passed away at the age of 26 after collapsing on the pitch during Friday s game against Viitorul.

Ekeng came off the bench in the 62nd minute of the match, but fell to the ground seven minutes later and was immediately rushed to hospital.

The Cameroonian received CPR for 90 minutes, but he was eventually pronounced dead at the hospital.

Play bizarrely resumed after Ekeng s collapse as the game ended 3-3.

Ekeng started his professional career with Canon Yaounde and joined Le Mans in 2009 as he made the move to Europe.

He also wore the jerseys of Rodez, Lausanne Sport and Cordoba before signing for Dinamo at the start of 2016.

Iran players hoping Queiroz new contract can be agreed

Karim Ansarifard has urged the football authorities in Iran to make sure that coach Carlos Queiroz stays with the team after the World Cup.

Queiroz led Iran to their first World Cup win in 20 years, and only the second in their history, with a 1-0 victory over Morocco on Friday, when Aziz Bouhaddouz s own goal secured three points.

The former Real Madrid coach, who has been in charge since April 2011, announced that he would step down from his role at the end of the tournament after only being offered a six-month extension to his contract.

Striker Ansarifard thinks Queiroz deserves to stay in charge and told reporters: We have one of the most fantastic coaches in the world.

He fights for us and he teaches us and we learn something from him every d…

Middlesbrough 3 Oxford United 2: Stuani rescues Boro after minute of mayhem

Middlesbrough were left to rely on an 86th-minute Cristhian Stuani winner after throwing away a two-goal advantage in their 3-2 FA Cup fifth-round victory over League One side Oxford United on Saturday.

Boro had looked set for a comfortable progression following first-half goals from Grant Leadbitter a penalty and Rudy Gestede, but that lead was gone in 60 seconds when Chris Maguire and Toni Martinez struck exactly a minute apart.

Oxford s second-half performance deserved a replay but substitute Stuani was on hand to turn in a Fabio cross with four minutes of normal time left on the clock.

The result sends Boro into the sixth round for the first time since their last season in the Premier League in 2008-09.

Maguire may have played a key role in Oxford s m…

Paulo Bento named new South Korea coach

South Korea have named former Portugal and Sporting CP boss Paulo Bento as their new head coach.

The 49-year-old has been appointed as successor to Shin Tae-yong, whose contract was not extended after the World Cup this year.

Bento is expected to be in charge of the team until the tournament in Qatar in 2022.

We believe Bento is a coach who can develop South Korean football if we can support and wait for him for four years, Kim Pan-gon, the head of the Korea Football Association s Technical Committee, said at a news conference in Seoul.

Bento was sacked by Chinese Super League side Chongqing Dangdai Lifan last month after a poor run of results, which included six defeats in a row.

Kim, though, has no concerns about his prospects.

Cherchesov wants new period of Russia success

Stanislav Cherchesov wants to start building for a new period of success for Russia at the Confederations Cup.

Russia reached the semi-finals of Euro 2008 but failed to qualify for the 2010 World Cup and have not progressed beyond the group stages in their three subsequent major tournaments.

Former Legia Warsaw coach Cherchesov will take charge of his first competitive game at the helm of the host nation against New Zealand in St Petersburg on Saturday.

The 53-year-old has presided over just three wins in his first nine matches in charge but hopes to restore Russia to their former glories having struggled in recent years.

We have been changing a lot and it is a privilege to represent our country at such a high level, Cherchesov told a pre-match news conf…

Sergio´s preference is my preference – Guardiola not opposed to Aguero joining Premier League rival

Pep Guardiola would have no qualms over Sergio Aguero joining another Premier League club when he leaves Manchester City at the end of this season.

It was announced last week that Aguero will conclude a decade-long association with City when his contract expires in June.

The 32-year-old is his club s all-time leading goalscorer with 257, having surpassed Eric Brook s previous best mark of 177 in November 2017.

Aguero is also the highest scoring overseas player in Premier League history and Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, West Ham and City s weekend opponents Leeds United have been among the clubs rumoured to hold an interest in the Argentina striker.

After his years of service to City, Guardiola insisted he was not in a position to pick and choose where he m…

Cristiano Ronaldo ´soap opera´ is ´important promotion´ for Al Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo would be easy to coach and the soap opera surrounding his links to Al Nassr have been important promotion for the club, says boss Rudi Garcia.

Portugal great Ronaldo remains a free agent after his contract with Manchester United was ended by mutual consent following his incendiary interview with Piers Morgan in which he criticised the club s hierarchy and manager Erik ten Hag.

Reports surfaced earlier this month suggesting the Real Madrid legend had agreed an eye-watering two-and-a-half-year contract with Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr.

Ronaldo later denied any decision regarding his future had been decided, but Portugal exiting the World Cup at the quarter-final stage means he is free to focus on his next move.

Al Nassr coach Garcia wou…
