Arsenal in talks for French hotshot

Arsenal are negotiating a summer deal for Auxerre forward Yaya Sanogo, according to French daily L’Equipe.

Sanogo, 20, is nearing the end of his contract at the club and is set to leave Auxerre when his deal expires at the end of the season.

According to L’Equipe, Arsenal are showing interest in the talented forward with a view to signing him on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.

The same source claims Arsene Wenger and Giles Grimandi met with the player in Paris last week to try and lure him to the Emirates.

Yaya Sanogo came through the youth ranks at Auxerre, and he was handed a first team debut during the 2009/2010 season.

His career has not gone as planned since, with the player making just 7 league appearances during the next…

Messi fury sees Martino call for MLS rules revision on injuries

Lionel Messi was left frustrated by being kept on the sidelines after an injury scare in Saturday s win over CF Montreal, with Inter Miami head coach Gerardo Martino calling for a revision of MLS rulings.

The former Barcelona superstar was visibly furious after being forced off temporarily from a George Campbell foul, with the Miami forward missing a chance to take a presentable free-kick opportunity.

New MLS regulations state players must leave the pitch for two minutes if the referee stops play due to a potential injury that leaves them on the ground for over 15 seconds.

Following the 3-2 triumph over Montreal, Martino questioned the ruling and suggested it punished the wrong party.

There are situations that must be revised, the Herons boss said.

Marseille v Paris Saint-Germain: Di Maria relishing Classique experience

Paris Saint-Germain star Angel Di Maria is eagerly anticipating Sunday s Classique clash with Marseille at Stade Velodrome.

The Argentina forward got his first taste of one of French football s hottest rivalries back in October when PSG saw off Marseille 2-1 in Paris thanks to two Zlatan Ibrahimovic penalties.

Di Maria is well aware of the animosity between the clubs and cannot wait to travel south as runaway leaders PSG who sit some 21 points clear of Monaco in second  attempt to maintain their unbeaten Ligue 1 record this season.

My team-mates have all told me about the importance of the match against OM, Di Maria told L Equipe.

Everyone was talking to me about Marseille ahead of the reverse fixture in October. People in the streets were asking …

Neymar not for sale – Bartomeu gives FFP warning to PSG

Neymar is not for sale according to Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, despite speculation linking the Brazil superstar with a world-record move to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Ligue 1 club are apparently ready to sensationally match the €222million release clause in Neymar s contract, with reports in the Spanish media suggesting the 25-year-old has become unsettled at Barca and is keen to step out of Lionel Messi s shadow in order to enhance his Ballon d Or prospects.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Bartomeu sought to draw a line under the developing saga and cautioned PSG that they would be in breach of UEFA s Financial Fair Play regulations if they forced through a move for Neymar.

He has a contract for the coming four years and, of course, we…

Cristiano sings ´Ronaldo, Ballon d´Or´ as Madrid celebrate Champions League triumph

Not content with consecutive Champions League titles and a drought-ending LaLiga crown, Cristiano Ronaldo quickly turned his attention to individual honours and the Ballon d Or.

Ronaldo produced a match-winning display in Cardiff on Saturday, scoring twice to lead Madrid to a 4-1 win over Juventus and their 12th European crown.

No team had retained their trophy in the Champions League era until Ronaldo and his team-mates in the Welsh city, and it sparked wild scenes in Madrid.

Back home at the Santiago Bernabeu, Ronaldo took centre stage as he sung about his own candidacy for the Ballon d Or, which he claimed ahead of Barcelona foe and five-time winner Lionel Messi last year.

Guerrero bids farewell to Flamengo as Internacional move nears

Peru captain Paolo Guerrero has bid farewell to Flamengo ahead of an expected move to Campeonato Brasileiro rivals Internacional.

Guerrero joined Flamengo from Corinthians in 2015 and was part of the team that last year won the Campeonato Carioca and reached the Copa Sudamericana final, where they lost to Independiente.

A ban for an anti-doping violation in October 2017 which was suspended ahead of the World Cup limited his playing time this season and he could not come to an agreement with the Rio de Janeiro club that would keep him at the Maracana.

Guerrero s 12-month suspension from FIFA was reduced to six on appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), but the World Anti-Doping Agency successfully argued that was insufficient and a 14-month period of i…
